ER
Gracie gave momma and daddy heart attacks tonight. She climbed up on the ottoman, jumped onto a big rubbermaid container we use as a toybox and promptly slid off, banging her head on the entertainment center on the way down. Her instant cries were expected, but the half a face full of blood was not. Daddy and I rushed her to the ER where, luckily, grandma was working! Grandma cheered her up, gave her Pooh stickers and a popcicle. The doc was able to simply glue the cut and if I hadn't seen how deep it was myself I probably would have thought it was just a scratch. I tried to take a picture of it, but it's pretty hard to see. It's just below her hairline almost straight up from her eye.

Momma's Little Artist
Diva
Gracie usually hates clips. As fast as I can get one in her hair, she's pulling it out.
Today, though, they are apparently very fun.

Gracie's Puppy
If you know Gracie, you know that she loves puppies. She is always saying "Puppy puppy puppy," and even requests visits to see her grandparents' puppies. Her recent addiction is seeing puppies on t.v. She steals the remote, pushes the OnDemand button (she knows that's how momma finds the puppies), and says "Puppy!" while pointing at the t.v. After watching Marley and Me five times in two days, I'd had enough of puppies. We had an extra t.v. for video games, but daddy was at work so I put Lilo and Stitch on it (the closest I had to a puppy DVD). It worked! She was entranced, and I had the regular t.v. to watch. So, I called daddy and asked him to bring a puppy DVD home from work. He did better than that! His work gave free Dug stuffed animals with the purchase of the Up! DVD. Now Gracie has her very own puppy-that must come with us every where.

So Pretty
Gracie made a new friend the other day. Her new friend is Abby*, and she's an eleven year old neighbor who desperately wants to babysit Gracie. Sorry Abby, that's Grandmas' job. Anyway, Abby likes to play with Gracie on our complex playground. She even knocked on our patio door the other day to see if Gracie could come out and play with her. I supervised, but let them play. I must admit, she is very good with Gracie. She even gave Gracie a pretty bracelet, which Gracie decided baby needed to wear:

Gracie's First Hair Cut
I've been getting a bit of grief lately about how long Gracie's hair is getting. I've been told that I should cut her bangs. Now, I have had bangs all my life, and I hate them. I don't like how I look without them, but find them to be a constant pain. Gracie, however looks quite cute without bangs, and I plan on using that to our advantage. She's a very wiggly kid, and I can't imagine trying to maintain bangs on that girl. So I have resisted the temptation to trim her locks thus far.
Today the girls and I took a trip to the Dells to visit with Josey, Bret, and Alyssa. Bri slept the whole way there, and most of the way back. Gracie, however was a little more challenging-but better than I expected. On the return trip, she got sick of being in the car with about an hour left until home. I kept her occupied by giving her three fruit snacks at a time. My thinking was that by only giving her three they'd last longer, and I wouldn't have a sticky van when we got home. That only lasted a half hour before she started screaming and wouldn't stop.
When we got home, I discovered-to my horror and amusement-that the car ride wasn't the only reason she was upset. I slid the side door open to see my daughter's beautiful red bangs wrapped around an especially soggy and sticky fruit snack. Gracie looked at me with a little frown and pulled at the fruit snack forlornly. Of course, it was raining, and Bri was screaming to be nursed too. My first thought was I guess she gets a haircut after all, but at least it'll make a funny blog with a silly before picture! By the time I got inside, I decided to try soap before scissors, and thankfully was able to get it out painlessly.
