Laundry

While at the doctor on Monday, I asked her about Gracie's skin. She has an odd sandpapery texture to her belly and sides that comes and goes. As suspected, the doc said she is probably having a minor reaction to the perfumes that are in soaps. So now I am re-washing all of the girls' clothes with All Free. Maybe by next week I'll be out from under this pile-If you don't hear from me in a week seek help.

She also gave me a couple of tips that I though I'd share and save you all the trip to the doc! She said she put baby oil in her kids' bath water and although it is perfumed, their skin was softer when she started doing that. While talking with my MIL about it, she also recommended using Olive Oil, which is completely natural and has no perfumes that could irritate baby's skin. With summer coming, I was concerned about sun screen, and she said nothing in sun screen is proven to irritate the skin, but it should be put on about a half hour before exposure. It takes that long to fully activate. I had no idea!

Green Beans

At her sixth month check up yesterday, Bee got cleared to started eating pureed foods. This was a relief to me, as I have been feeling a bit guilty for not being able to pump enough milk for her. She's been eating rice cereal since her four month checkup and that has helped a little, but I think by adding baby food to her diet I will get a little more relief. Maybe I'll even get to stop pumping at work! That would be wonderful!

Six Months!

Bee is officially six months old! We had her checkup today, and she did great. She is now 15lbs 1.5 oz (50th percentile), 26" long (75th percentile), and her head is 44 cm (90th percentile). She got three vaccinations but only cried for a moment. She came home and took an hour nap, nursed, and went back to bed!

Big Events

On this day six months ago, I was in labor with little Bee. I truly cannot believe she is already six months old! Time has flown by and although I'm amazed that she's already accomplished so much it also seems like she's always been in our family. I suppose she has always been in our hearts as we waited for God's timing to bring her to us physically. I have an appointment for her six month checkup tomorrow, so I'll blog her new stats and doctor comments then.

Tomorrow is also a special day for our family. It is our seventh wedding anniversary! I tease Daddy that we've made it through the "seven year itch," and he says that was over long ago because we dated so long before our wedding (six years). Unfortunately Daddy has to work tomorrow evening, so we won't even get to see each other. I'm sure we'll be thinking about how special the day is despite that.

We had a wonderful time at my parents' house with my in-laws and my brother's in-laws. The kids had a blast! We are home for a rest now, and will be going to our church service tonight as usual. While you are out and about, having fun with eggs and bunnies don't forget the real reason for Easter. Jesus has risen! He has conquered the grave and given us a way to reach Heaven! He is alive, and He loves YOU!

Naughty Gracie Strikes Again

Gracie loves to climb, and one of her favorite things to climb on are chairs. So I didn't think anything of it when she started climbing on our kitchen chair this evening. Until I heard a thump and a giggle. That can only mean trouble. . . and this is what I found:

Easter Otts

Gracie calls eggs "otts." We have no idea where she got it, but we understand what she means so it works. Today I brought the girls to Carrie's house and Gracie and I dyed eggs with her while Bee watched.
